The Panasonic Lumix DMC-FZ70

The Panasonic Lumix DMC-FZ70 is a great compact camera for its price point of $299.99. This is a bridge-style superzoom with a long 60x zoom lens. The 16.1-megapixel camera covers a 20-1,200mm equivalent field of view, making it possible to capture breathtaking wide angles without giving up the ability to hone in on distant subjects. The FZ70 cuts some corners to hit its low price point, but despite having a low-res EVF and rear LCD and not having WI-FI, image quality is quite strong. It's a solid budget option for this class of camera, but if you can spend a bit more, I recommend getting the Panasonic Lumix DC-FZ80. The Panasonic Lumix DC-FZ80 manages to cram in a 60x optical zoom, which provides a very broad focal range of 20-1200mm, so perfect for squeezing loads into the frame or zooming into your subject. With the smaller physical sensor size in mind the resolution has sensibly been kept below 20MP (18.1MP), which will help to reduce noise levels when shooting at higher ISO settings. The reasons why you should spend a bit more and get the FZ-80 are 4k video recording, touchscreen, higher resolution sensor, and WI-FI capability. Below are a couple images that I have taken with the Panasonic Lumix DMC-FZ70.
